THE CASE OF A SOCIAL WORKER FIRED ILLEGALLY HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED

Date: 28 Dec 2020

GYLA defended the rights of a social worker illegally fired from the LEPL Social Service Agency in January 2020. Following the reorganization of the Social Service Agency in early 2020, the rights and responsibilities of guardianship and custody were transferred to the LEPL Agency for State Care and Assistance for the (Statutory) Victims of Human Trafficking. Under the changes, the care agency would, if necessary, provide for an appointment without the competition of both full-time and freelance workers in the social service agency. Nevertheless, the social worker was dismissed groundlessly under the pretext of reorganization.

The dismissal order was appealed in Kutaisi City Court. During the dispute, a settlement was reached between the social worker and the LEPL - Agency for State Care and Assistance for the (Statutory) Victims of Human Trafficking. The social worker was appointed for life without competition in the LEPL Agency for State Care and Assistance for the (Statutory) Victims of Human Trafficking and was compensated for the unpaid salaries.
