According to the information available to GYLA observer, there is a serious danger in Khoni district of various persons breaking into the particular polling stations and disrupting the procedures of vote counting and summarizing. As already known, the strangers broke into the polling station #22 of the Khoni district and broke the ballot box. At the moment, there is an attempt of breaking into the polling station #19 of the Khoni district. There is a danger of unknown persons breaking into other polling stations as well.

On June 15, Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association conducted the observation of the Local Self-Government Elections in Tbilisi and in 40 districts of 10 regions of Georgia through up to 500 observers.    

We would like to voice our position about some statements made by representatives of the state authorities about judiciary and to express our position about the fact. 

As the reports or researches released by NGOs and Public Defender’s Office provide, property right was one of the most frequently violated rights in Georgia for the past years. Although the issue is not disputed by the current government, the state’s response to the violations is ineffective.

Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) conducted post-election observation of the procedures in the 38 District Election Commissions (DECs). In cases of identifying violations, GYLA addressed the DECs and the courts with the relevant complaints.

June 26 is the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. GYLA expresses its solidarity to the victims of torture and calls on the State to implement effective measures with a view to restore rights of victims, prevent torture and bring offenders to justice.
