Evaluation of the pre-election environment of the 2018 presidential runoff
GYLA’s 2018 Observation Mission for the II round of the 2018 Presidential Elections of Georgia covers Tbilisi and 9 regions of Georgia: Imereti, Guria, Adjara, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Shida Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, and Kakheti (through 300 observers).
By 10:00, the voting process is mostly calm. However, by now, important tendencies were revealed, relating to vote secrecy and control over voters’ will.
By 14:00, GYLA observers have revealed one case of threatening against precinct election commission member, one case of alleged bribery, also facts of violation of vote secrecy and alleged control over voters’ will, in addition to interference in GYLA observers’ rights.
Multiple facts of alleged falsification were revealed at the precinct #49 of Marneuli district, including the repeated voting by the same voter.
